LSD Framework
Our mission

Make design infrastructure feel like air.

We're building the substrate that lets humans, agents, and frameworks share a single design language — so creative work travels at the speed of thought.

Who we are

Forty-eight people. Three offices. One stubborn idea.

Northwind Labs started in 2021 with the conviction that design tokens, not screens, are the real interface of the next decade. We've been quietly shipping the plumbing ever since.

Our team has built design systems at Stripe, GitHub, Figma, and a dozen startups you've never heard of. We come from typography, color science, type theory, and front-end engineering — and we think the boundary between those fields is the bug.

Our values

What we hold to.

Compose, don't couple.

Every primitive earns its place. If two things must travel together, they're one thing.

Tokens are the API.

If a value has a name, it can be transferred. Names beat hard-coded magic every time.

Optimize for the next decade.

We ship work that compounds. If it's a hack, it's a temporary one — and the ticket is filed.

Treat agents like teammates.

Every label and description we write doubles as training material. Clarity is kindness.

Quiet the chrome.

The work is the work. Toolbars, menus, ornament: only if they pay rent.

Stay legible to humans.

Our diff readability is the same metric for code, design, and copy. If it can't be read, it can't be reviewed.
